Every good epic has its villain, and for Maldene this is Miro (pronounced MY-RO). His origins unknown, his power undeniable, he is the most evil, most feared being on Maldene… or perhaps any other world. Power enough to conquer the world, and yet he has not, though his appearances throughout History have demonstrated his desire to do so. Or at least, his desire for… something.

Miro is a wizard whose evil reaches back into the dim mists of History, to the very beginning of what people know of the world. He has been responsible for the fall of many an ancient civilization, the manipulation of many more. It is said that even the gods fear him, though as to why they will not say. This much is known, however; Miro has the demonstrated capacity to plan hundreds of years in advanced; perhaps far more.

Miro is the sort of person that will cause great wars just to get one key person to be in a specific location at exactly the right time. He will let a culture rise to great heights just so he can bring it crashing down. Why? Only he knows. And if he can indeed conquer the entire world so readily, then why has he not? What prevents him? Or is there some other greater battle at hand, another war he wages of which the world is unaware.
