Cryptic

 

 

If you’ve been digging around on this site then you may have found the “Mystery Symbol” page with the above graphic and a vague line relating to it and chance to start guessing about it (thus far, no one has tried).  Well, in an effort to spur things on a little, I’ll say a little more about it.

This symbol figures rather prominently in the plot for “Maldene II: Mysteries Of Olde”, first being seen on the map found in Volume Two of the first novel.  It is a symbol relating to the place that the map leads to and a particular thing within that place that rips the whole Maldene plot wide open.  If you’re reading Maldene II right now then you know to what it is connected; if not then no spoilers right now.

As for the exact meaning, there actually is something behind that symbology.  In fact, one of the characters in Maldene II even figures it out and explains it.  I won’t reveal the whole thing, but only say that the triangle thing is actually a symbol for knowledge.  The rest, you can either try to figure it out for yourself or read the book and see Sabu’s explanation.

Meanwhile, behind the scenes trivia:  As far as where I can up with this little string of symbols, this is actually a doodle of mine from back when I was in 4th grade (about age 10).  Many years later when I was developing Maldene, I decided to use it.
