One of the main characters, Sabu is the young wizard who’s mind is nearly always lost in his own intellectualizations. Where others see a cloud drifting by and fanciful patterns, he will be calculating the wind patterns that made it that way. He can calmly calculate the trajectory of a spell required to vanquish an enemy while leaving his friends untouched, though not always with as timely and immediate an effect as his friends would like.

He is perhaps the opposite of his friend Eldar, a wise-cracking elf who deserves his own entry but suffice it to say that Eldar is as reckless as Sabu is studied. Between the two of them, though, there’s very few things they can’t tackle.

It is Sabu’s keen mind and observation that will take an innocent yet mysterious clue to start them on the road to the most amazing secret that Maldene- or any world- could possibly possess.

But that’s getting ahead of ourselves and a matter more for Maldene II than this first novel.
