An elf with a devil-may-care attitude, he will go into battle cracking wise, and gets a kick he more dangerous something is. In fact, a couple of novels in I finally had to invent a native Maldene word that would translate as “Hutzpa” specifically to describe Eldar. After all, how many people d you know that upon seeing a dragon, grin wide and shout “Now THIS is Fun!” just before lunging into battle?
Unfortunately, this makes Eldar a bit reckless. Fortunately, making up for his lack of foresight, is his best friend Sabu. In this regard they are complete opposites, but that only means they compliment one another rather effectively. Eldar will go charging into battle with a ready quip on his lips, leaving Sabu to figure out the details of keeping them all alive. But Sabu’s intellect can sometimes get lost with over-intellectualizations, so it’s then up to Eldar to snap him out of it before they all die.
On the other hand, we ARE still talking about an Elf whose idea of celebrating their escape from a funnel storm at sea is to turn around and Moon said storm.
