Of the many races of Maldene, the sea-going amongst them are the Thirdocians. A stocky Human race born for the sea, by the time their young are old enough to leave the village they are already worthy seamen. The best sailors on the planet, a Thirdoaian ship is the first choice for crossing the storm-ridden Equator.
Thirdocians have certain practices for their ships and crew. An all-Thirdocian crew will always have a Sea Mage; a Thidcoian skilled in the magics of the sea and weather. This adds extra insurance to an already highly-skilled crew and well-maintained ship. Besides being excellent sailors, with Captains that can practically smell out shoals and reefs, and their prized Sea Mages, all Thirdocians are also excellent warriors well able to fight from their rigging while their ship tosses at sea.
Thirdocians can be found nearly anywhere on Maldene, anywhere the sea might take them, for they are an adventerous lot, viewing no voyage too dangerous or too long. But, dare to track them into the Sea of a Thousand Islands to find their villages and homes, and you will have a fight upon your hands indeed. For who better to make use of the hundreds of small rocky islands than a people that know how to play tag with their vessels, particularly since they are the only ones that know where all of these islands are located.
If you want to survive a 10,000 mile voyage through the Sea of 1000 Island, past the Great Whirlpool itself, from My-Thov to The Farlands, then you cannot do any better than a Thirdocian ship and crew.
